TGO Authority Certifies Royal Phuket Marina as the Country’s Leading Sustainable Marina. A major milestone on its mission to become the world’s first carbon-neutral marina.

Royal Phuket Marina (RPM) has achieved the status of Thailand’s leading sustainable marina, officially certified by Thailand’s TGO Authority as a Carbon Footprint Organisation (CFO). RPM is making remarkable strides towards becoming the world’s first carbon-neutral marina, a commitment that involves substantial emissions reduction and further carbon offsetting.

Royal Phuket Marina is now the sole marina in Thailand and the only hospitality and real estate developer company in Phuket to receive certification from the prestigious Carbon Footprint for Organisation (CFO). The CFO certification is granted by Thailand’s Greenhouse Gas Management Organisation (TGO), a government entity, and is awarded only after a comprehensive assessment of the organisation’s carbon footprint. The certification process adheres to the standards set by the International Accreditation Forum and the Thai National accreditation body, the National Standardisation Council of Thailand.

Mr. Gulu Lalvani, Chairman of Royal Phuket Marina, emphasised, “The highly-regarded CFO certification validates RPM’s unwavering dedication to sustainability, resonating throughout every aspect of our operations. Royal Phuket Marina continues to shine as a beacon of sustainability within Thailand’s boating and marina industry.”

“We are thrilled to receive official government recognition as Thailand’s only marina and Phuket’s sole hospitality and real estate developer company with CFO certification. Our goal is to maintain our our position as Asia’s foremost sustainable yachting paradise and lead the way in becoming the world’s first carbon-neutral marina.”

“We are Thailand’s premier destination for living, working, celebrating, and embracing the marina lifestyle’s beauty. We are committed to upgrading all our boating, residential, and commercial facilities continually. We are also honoured to have been nominated by the Netherlands-Thai Chamber of Commerce (NTCC) for one of their prestigious ESG awards in recognition of our unique sustainability initiatives across all our business divisions.”

Furthermore, Mr. Lalvani will be a distinguished speaker, representing Thailand’s marina industry, at the 1st Andaman Sustainable Tourism Forum, where he will share his vision regarding “Phuket’s Strategy Towards Becoming a Sustainable Tourism City of Andaman.”

One of the company’s most notable achievements is its transition to solar energy. Earlier this year, RPM received a Letter of Recognition (LOR) under the Low Emission Support Scheme (LESS) in partnership with the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organisation (TGO) for its successful implementation of solar productivity measures. The marina now generates up to 40% of its daily energy needs through clean, sustainable solar power, with plans to further increase its solar productivity to meet ambitious goals.

RPM and its boating partners also aspire to reduce and ultimately eliminate all single-use plastic bottles distributed during boating excursions and charters, contributing to a reduction of approximately 4 million plastic bottles annually.

Additionally, RPM has forged sustainable partnerships through community engagement and collaboration with renowned organisations such as the International SeaKeepers Society, Oceans For All Foundation, License to Clean, Wawa Creations, and Disabled Sailing Thailand.

Sustainability remains deeply ingrained in RPM’s core values. Royal Phuket Marina continues to lead the way in promoting environmental responsibility within the marina industry and in Phuket as a whole.
